Torsional vs. Linear Phacoemulsification

Dr. Fernando Aguilera delivered a presentation at the annual ASCRS convention in San Francisco in March 2006 outlining the results of his clinical study comparing system parameters and patient outcomes between traditional linear phaco technology and using the INFINITI® Vision System’s OZil® Torsional handpiece.

Aguilera concluded:

• Torsional phaco shows improved system metrics compared with linear phaco
• Use of torsional phaco for brunescent cataracts results in improved patient outcomes
• Torsional phaco is a safe and viable new technology for the emulsification of any cataract hardness
